Where did the term coarse fishing derive from ?

Walleye (your Zander)

Not quite true - although similar in appearance, lifestyle and even taste, they are two seperate species.

..as you will see from the final paragraph in the second of the above links, a US restaurant was in trouble for passing off imported zander as "walleye"

No fish deserves that sort of treatment, not even a carp

 

Careful Peter you could be accused of disdain for carp angling! :D

They are however, viewed here in the US with some distain... never understood that myself.

Best if read in an Australian accent... ;) I know that the Australian view is also the same held in a few conservative circles in the US.
