Ultimate bobbin

I was just thinkin of what to use for attaching my bobbins to the bankstick and I reckon strimmer cord would be a good contender. I put cord into ebay and there was quite a few plastic cords of different diameters. Just thought I'd share the thought incase anyone else was struggling to get a suitable bobbin cord, it might be worth a look.

Ive always used Amnesia hook length material/shooting head backing in 30-40lb and never had any tangling problem with it.

Im sure strimmer cord would be good but a bit difficult to tie a knot in so I suppose crimping it would be best?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I know a bloke who uses strimmer mono for pike fishing. He reckons it's the strongest, most-abrasion resistant line he's ever used. I dunno which type or brand he uses mind you but I think he's a landscape gardener or something like that so he probably buys it in industrial lengths.

I use old fly line to attach bobbins. Completely non tangle, cheap as chips (or free) and a wide variety of diameters.

At last, a use for Airflo floaters :P

All very interesting but it take you 24 pages to arrive at the point that you need light arm indicators with a bobbin on the top. Sorry Guy the 3 counties mere bream anglers have had them for over 25 years, I know because I made most of them.

Budgie the one you refer to were Bob Hendersons and Bob was shown the ones I designed and made and took it a stage further with the clip mechanism.

If I can find out how you put a picture on here I'll post some.

Sorry guys the wheel has already been made.

I've just copied John Wilsons idea in one of his books where he whipped a hook keeper or in my case a u nail with the ends bent out onto his bankstick. Then tie a swivel and clip to the bobbin cord so you can just clip the bobbin to your bankstick......great idea from ewd John Wilson.
