Actually I'm pretty sure this work was pioneered in the UK. Think it was th Univ of Plymouth that 'trained' farmed sea bass to return for feeding at the response to a specific sound...

Didn't monks used to ring a bell to attract the carp in their fish ponds when it was feeding time? Probably also made them easier to catch on a Friday morning!
