Both my Mother-in-Law and Sister have been treated for breast cancer some years ago.

Glad to say that both are still clear of it now.

So, whilst I know how hard such news can hit, I'm hopeful of yet another full recovery for Sue.

Good Luck Sue :)

(And of course there is 'casting for recovery' to look forward too!)

SACN member Keith Passant is mad enough to organise a 24 hour fly-tying marathon for charity.

The cause is Casting for Recovery, a charity which aims to help women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer onto the road to recovery by introducing them to fly-fishing. (see http://www.castingforrecovery.org.uk/ ).

As well as achieving their aim of enhancing the lives of women who have been visited by this devastating disease, and setting them on the road to recovery, such initiatives bring the positive aspects of angling into the public eye and so as anglers Keith's efforts deserve the support of us all.

Details of the fly-tying marathon and raffle (check out the prizes!) are on another website at http://fnfwilts.tripod.com/cfrmarathon

Please sponsor Keith, and perhaps buy some raffle tickets as well (you can donate via paypal, or send Keith a cheque - details on the website )

Oh! and please get your friends and relatives to do the same :-)

Spread the Word.

Hi Tony so sorry to hear the news, give Sue our love and best wishes.

As already said if caught in the early stages, there's an excellent chance of a full recovery.

From my own experience, it's the positive backing of love ones that can help a great deal at times like this.

The Doctors and Nurses will do all they can on the medical side, but a positive outlook helps with the mental side of things.

During Chemo' Sue will probably feel like she's on a 'Roller Coaster' ride, up one day and feeling down the next. this is when she will need the 'positive' support.

I'm sure I don't need to say it, but there are plenty of folk on here that will help the best they can.

Even if it's just someone to talk to.

Take care, both of you.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Sorry to hear your news, Tony, but if it's any help, I can add to the accounts of successful recovery that others have already mentioned. Two of the ladies I work with have recently (in the last two years) had treatment for early breast cancer and they're both now fighting fit. Happily, it's one of the more treatable forms of the disease and the prognosis is excellent these days. Best wishes to you both.

Like DavyR I could add to the list, it is wonderful what they can achieve today, wishing Sue a speedy recovery and let's hope you get that gammy hip sorted as well.

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

Tony and Sue - Sorry to hear this as I know what you're going through as my mum was diagnose having breast cancer in the right side of her body in November and was operated the week before Christmas. At the moment she is doing very well.

My prayers will be with you all the way.

Growing old is inevitable but growing up is optional

Best wishes and kind regards during this difficult time.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Hi All. Thanks for all your kind thoughts. I am staying positive and getting on with whatever the docs tell me to do, and they are positive at this stage. Resorted to " its in their hands". Avoiding alternative therapy websites. Starting chemo next week and looking forward to a recovery soon; albeit a bit of along journey first . Medicine moves fast and everyone is individual I am told, no matter what stage. If I am not up to it, Tony will keep you updated but I do look forward to a trip to Timsbury later in the year - need to use my new unused WATERPROOF camo 2 piece!

Leon, thanks so much for the link, it looks fantastic and I am definitely looking forward to one of those fishing retreats, I am unsure if male partners are invited or if it is ladies only , but who knows , if Tony is spending more time at home I maybe in need of a break!!
