A sense of priorities

Vagabond

This nation is engaged in profound changes involving its sovereignty, its status, its political allegiances and its finances.

What do the BBC do ?

Their so-called political reporting team concentrate on the resignations of three dozen non-entities from a non-functional group, and their replacement with another three dozen non-entities.

Even politicians can't think of a more grandiose title than "Shadow Cabinet". The reality is that it is a virtual Cabinet, an imaginary Cabinet, a would be Cabinet, etc, etc, Until it has an elected majority, important it is not. It isn't even at present performing what it is supposed to do - holding the Government to account. looking after the people it claims to represent, etc etc.

No, all we are getting are drama-queen posturings. from Corbyn and his errrrr "team" Nothing of the slightest importance to the immediate situation is happening there.

What is far more important is the activity of the real, working, existing Cabinet, yet all the BBC could muster was to ask Osborne "Why are you not resigning ?"

This was to a guy who had made contingency plans, and had been working on them since Brexit became a reality., despite it being against his own inclination. Whatever one's view, clearly someone has to continue to run the country. Osborne's answer "because I have a job to do" was a masterpiece of restraint - he didn't add "you peevish, odious , little man" - nor did he need to

listened to both Osborne and Cameron in parliament, both were business as usual, even the speaker yesterday thanked Cameron for his robustness in the face of the doom and gloom mp's mainly from the snp and the liberals who where coming out with would be and could be questions. Both those guys stood up and told it as it is without grizzling and I thought it was excellent. Listened to corbyn out side of parliament last night and he continued digging a hole for himself with his negativity while blaming all and sundry.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I agree with all that Dave has said and there is much bigger stuff to cover. However, what we may be witnessing is almost the self destruction of the Labour party. The referendum gave a good indication of what a lot of Labour heartlands think of the direction the country is going and they ignored the the official Labour party position of remain. It is almost beyond belief that Corbyn refuses to go (Unless you know his type). He seems determined to run the party in to the ground.

For all those traditional Labour party voters in the rest of the country who are starting to feel that Labour no longer is relevant to them and certainly does not represent them what must they be thinking of what is going on. Some all loony codger surrounding himself with his London cronies such as Diane Abbott and his london based activists hell bent on trying to take over the party and bully its MP's. They are fast becoming a party of protest with no relevance to most of the country. The sad thing is that they do not care what most people think and seem under some deluded idea that they represent some form of new politics. Since when was sneering at everyone who does not agree with you new politics. Even a cold hearted typ like me felt something when watching Angela Eagle almost in tears while explaingin why she resigned.

It's all very sad to watch but as I live in London I know the types who support Corbyn and enjoy playing rebel in their spare time. Maybe the media is spending to much time on covering this but the Corbinites look like they will cling to power or what they think is power within the party. I honestly believe they have no interest in ruling the country, its all very much student union politics or worse play ground politics of you dont agree with me and so I dont like you and so you cant be in my gang.

Clinging on to their time in the sunshine is all that seems to interest them, so maybe Vagabond is right and it would be better if this got no coverage. It must really hurt so many Labour voters to see what has become of their party.

True enough Dales, but it is what I have come to expect from politicians of that persuasion.

My real irritation is with the BBC and their perception of what is "news" It seems as if they regard a politician as only "newsworthy" if about to resign (or alternatively, behaving in a way that others think should merit resignation)

How well the Chancellor of the Exchequer does his job in the immediate future is somewhat important to all of us, but perhaps beyond the mental capacity of a "political correspondent"

I have to admit the first time I had heard of many of them was when they resigned. As they announced the names I played a little game to see if I could pin the name to the post. They spoiled it by sometimes announcing shadow secretary for such and such before giving their names. If that lot who resigned are the cream of talent in the party, god knows who they are going to replace them with.

Wow. The man has some stones!

Corbyn has lost a no confidence vote among his own MPs by 172-40 and he still won't go.

As if trying to expunge his past euroscepticism from the record wasn't bad enough, he is now hard at work convincing an entire generation of voters that the Labour party is nothing more than a nest of antidemocratic, power hungry, incompetent, losers.

Long may he continue.

I think the priority should be in building a lorry park ,no not for operation stack but somewhere to park all the confiscated lorries we take from the imprisoned drivers we catch with illegals on board.

Its no good fining it obviously doesnt give them the incentive to buy a decent padlock so confiscate the lorry ,perfectly legal it was used to commit a crime.

It should be illegal found ,confiscate lorry ,put driver on boat with illegals and send them back to france ,second offence driver imprisoned lorry confiscated boat company fined £100,000 .

If we come down hard the onus would be back to france to check for illegals or their boat companies swiftly go out of business ,same for the railway

We dont need more officials we have the remnants of an army to deploy with pointy knives on guns to usher the immigrants onto the france bound ship ,who gives a crap if france doesnt except them they can sit on them until it sinks

The foreigners here are getting a bit worried about us leaving ,simply give them residence permits ,if they are contributing more to the uk than receiving they get it if not their on the boat with the illegal ones to apply for a tempory work permit from their country as is the norm with anyone else

Border agency and HMRC have the power to confiscate a trailer or tractor unit if found to be carrying illegals.

Proving they were used for trafficking with the drivers/owners knowledge is the problem and has caused the said authorities a few legal headaches.

Fines are much easier allowing all parties to keep generating revenue.

Container ship owners/operators get fined for illegals and there are rumours in the shipping industry of Captains disposing of any found in international waters!

Most political commentators aren't worth the powder to blow them up.

We do have one who seems a cut above. He was confidently predicting that Donald Trump would not win the Republican nomination for president and said that he would eat a printed copy of one of his broadcasts if he turned out to be wrong. When Trump won the nomination that commentator solicited recipes for cooking a printed copy of a broadcast. He picked his favourite recipe and ate the cooked column on camera - all verified by one of his rivals.

The whole Brexit aftermath is getting lots of media coverage over here and I absolutely do not envy you folks the situation you are in now.

" My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!" - Harry Truman, 33rd US President
