Cyclone Debris?

A tad windy the other day so I went around the headland and came upon this rock about 30 feet above highwater mark (20 ft tides) and some 60 to 70 feet from the water.and nestled up against a bonzai moreton bay fig.

The rock is completely water worn and weighs in at about 200kg Must have been a big cyclone to do that.

That looks like an interesting rock formation. Fossils?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

  • 4 months later...

Thought I had replied earlier to Cory's question...

It is basal granite.

Odd thing, Phone, 13 km away from my place is a saltwater creek that has freshwater fossil crayfish that are about 10,000 years old, (Thalassina anomala)

Bobj,

Maybe? a devil's marble.

Just kidding. More likely from "The Flood". I've always been fascinated by the geology of Australia. Seems it should be so "easy" and yet you've a lot of the "unexplained"

The Devil's Marbles is Karlu Karlu in the local Aboriginal dialect. Seen it many times and still wonder at the grandeur of it.
