Fossicking, Anyone?

Bobj

Recommended Posts

From the remote far west of the Northern Territory, about 75 kg of amethyst clusters from a quartz vein I found in a dry river bed.The vein is over 3 metres long and got so hard to excavate, I decided to backfill it. Biggest single crystal is about 9 cm across

Remember, you American types, fossicking for fun; prospecting for pay.

Bobj,

That's some cool chit right there.

Give me a little blurb. Is that your best find ever?

I've fossdicked a bit myself. (That's the same as "fossicking" for those of you in OZ) Actually never heard the term, learn every day - thanks. I was strictly podunk, a little gold, turquoise and semi-precious stuff.

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Yes, my best find for amethyst, even though I located a gravel pit in the East Kimberley Region that had amethyst geodes to about 20 lbs. Alas, the D7 'dozer sorted out a lot.. while winning road gravel

Found a quartz geode that was filled with over 100 clear 'see through' crystals to 4 inches.

Nice find mate. Are you allowed to sell or keep any of it?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

The Northern Territory has no fossicking laws, except NO fossicking on Aboriginal land. That means it's all mine!!Yes, I can sell it if I want to.

All the other States have fossicking laws, where a person must have a 'Miner's Right' but that is a mere formality, or revenue.

It doesn't look life changing, but I think that colour, and clarity might make a bit of difference.

John.

I guess how long you expect to live for might come into it too.
