Time to come out to Australia, then? :fishing1:

We, in Qld had pretty much the same until the Fed Gov. decided to stick 'No fishing' zones along the Great Barrier Reef. The Fed Gov. bumped up their '5%' 'no fishing' to 25%.

Lots of lobbying went on and now we are starting to reap a few benefits. What really helps, is that the GBR is a vast playground and the tourist dollar is more important than a few votes from the commercial trawler skippers*. That and the fact that alot of well heeled retirees are coming to live in these 3 regions.

* I remember 18 years ago, when we first moved to the Mackay area, we could see up to 14 trawlers 'ploughing the sea' in front of our bay almost every day. Now, we see perhaps 2 trawlers a month

:clap3: We've had several surveys here that prove that recreational angling is far more beneficial to government coffers and the natural environment than commercial fishing but to no avail. The government is reliant on the block votes from commercial fishery areas to win seats where as recreational votes are spread across the whole country so would only affect a marginal seat. Mr Cameron did say that best use would get most benefits but we know what a big liar he turned out to be. All the evidence points to the recreational, tax and employment benefits angling provides but no government will give angling what it deserves, fish. The commercials get quotas, anglers get what is left, if any. Farmers and sewerage companies pollute at will and get a small fine compared to their huge profits and fishery owners usually have to go through the courts to get compensation and I can't see it ever changing. :bye2:

Norm, Norm Norm, we know all that.

Obvious what's missing is decent representation of the angling community. TAT get millions in hand out of tax payers money, (the ceo has stated previously anglers are not the importance when it comes to funding) not one paid up sea angling rep on it's books and all they can offer up the sea anglers in their quest for more funding is appeasing the conservation programme and offer up angling restrictions even though they are not fit for purpose and will never solve any alleged shortages.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
