Same here the youthful larks of breaking ice and frozen rings (both personal and rod) have long gone but I am foolish enough to walk to the pond to see if anyone else is

Sundries Retex 2 piece for course or Sundries SAS 2 piece for beach.

Mid layer - craghoppers thermal lined trousers or a pair of jogging bottoms depending on temperature, montane prism jacket for top half.

Helle Hansen thermals as a base layer.

Seal skin thermal socks covered with seal skin waterproof socks.

Hot boots or walking boots.

Neoprene gloves, fleece snood and fleece hat.

Problem solved,

I found an old Argos Leeda Specialist suit I bought a few years ago on the recommendation of Anderoo. I’d forgotten about this and don’t know why I stopped wearing it but a trip out yesterday saw me toastie warm even when the sun disappeared later in the day. It’s one piece so not what I was after but it does the job and at £50 IIRC very good value. Pity Argos don’t sell them anymore.

Thanks for the replies.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

I used to have a one piece waxed cotton suit with a hood and quilted lining, which I wore over the top of a set of wool lined long johns and jacket which I was issued with when I once worked in a frozen food cold store.

It was quite comfortable and kept me as warm as a bug in a rug without being too bulky.

Try a thermal onesie. Put 'normal' clothes on top so that you can say dry and don't look like a Minion. Bingo. Just don't stay out so long that you need to go to the toilet.

More seriously, I agree about trout fishing gear they do make a better range but it is very expensive. I am a small guy, and most angling clothing available is way too big. I once bought something from Angling Direct - allegedly 38 chest - you could have got two of me inside it.

Try Decathlon. Their outdoor gear is much better than most coarse fishing stuff. A pair of skiing trousers for instance. Not designed for anglers, and doesn't have loads of pockets, but it's warm dry, reasonably well made, and cheap. Just avoid the luminous yellow!
