Camcorder wanted

Sportsman

Recommended Posts

I have a project coming up that will require some decent video. Don't want to spend a fortune on a camera that will probably get very little use otherwise so I was wondering if anyone on here had one sitting in a cupboard that doesn't get used anymore.

The ability to add an external mic would be great.

I have looked at cheap "HD" digital camcorders but a very mixed bag when it comes to results. I would rather have a second hand better quality unit. Digital preferred but Mini DV would probably work.

Let me know what you have

Thanks

Sportsman,

I'm not to sure how you are defining "spend a fortune" but I have the cheap GoPro and it is cool as hell. Don't buy the more expensive models. It takes a genius just to turn the damn thing on.

Thanks Phone, but I am looking for a hand held camcorder or one that I can put on a tripod. The ability to add an external mic is also desirable.

A lot of folk buy camcorders, use them for a short time and then consign them to the back of a cupboard so I just wondered if anyone had one like that.

Well, I got a cracking Panasonic 3CDD camera for about a tenth of its original price. It does what I need and downloads perfectly to my old PC via Firewire. Just needs a new battery but otherwise very pleased. Now I just need an external shotgun mic and I am good to go. It is for making training films.

Coupled with a free video editor called Videopad which seems to work really well and will do everything I want, I am set to try something new.
