By next week, daylight hours will increase. Raise a glass...

The solstice is almost upon us, and soon the days will grow longer, and the sun gather strength.

Raise a glass to the turn of the year.

Indeed. It takes us 35 minutes on the boat up the river to get to some good Perch and chub waters where you can't fish from the bank and the same back and we can't leave until 10 am and need to be back by 3pmand so that really leaves hardly any time to fish and it can be very irritating as it takes another hour or so to feed the swim.

Damn cold on the way up and back too.

Bring on the winter solstice!

Sounds strange but I really miss the hard winters.

Had some very productive days -6 degrees celcius in a Blizzard. Boy did I do some crazy stuff when I was younger...lool.

However, on topic, looking forwards to the longer days....

Old Fart!

Cold winters are good ,thins out the unfit and old birds and animals but especially kills over wintering insects so theres not a glut but in my case knocks all of the rose leaves off that generally stay on the roses helping diseases multiply especially black spot grrr.

It also if its hard enough moves goodies about in the soil that are resting on their edges making detecting them near impossible

Cant bear summer once your in a tee shirt theres little to remove to keep cool if its cold you put more clothes on its far easier in winter ,mind you i generally only wear a tee shirt but wear a coat or gilet winter or summer purely for somewhere to put my wallet and keys etc when shopping but i was in a tee shirt sunday detecting and the resident moslems were in thick coats perhaps they regarded me as a strange infidel that kept praying every few seconds (me kneeling digging up their fricking pull tabs) LOL
