Fishing Licence

My Licence arrived in the post today, the letter was dated 29th March, so I don't know when it was posted. It tells me to keep it in a memorable place, but over the page I am instructed to take it with me when I go fishing

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not

And Mine last Friday - also dated 29 March.

They get a lot of flack but just think what it would be like without them.

They do a lot of work that us Anglers don't see -The E.A. isn't just about Angling & License checking :busted_cop:

Of course they DON'T Always do some of the work that Anglers DO see but that's just from the Anglers perspective!!

Angling - as big as it is for us - is just a very small part of the bigger picture for them !!!!

The EA is supposedly there to look after the environment which is not just about fishing and rivers, so why are anglers singled out to pay this tax? I don't blame anyone for not buying one....good luck to 'em!

They claim you need to have a rod license even if you fish in a pond in your back garden...what a crock of shat!

Good point - why not boaters, canoeists, bird watchers, dog walkers, etc Every action in the countryside puts some sort of pressure on the environment, ....and ironically the best fishing I have ever had was on "my" trout streams, which have never seen a River Board, River Authority or (as now) an Environmental Authority official in my lifetime - and I have fished said streams since WWII.

We are paying in large part to prevent and remediate the damage done by others, and because of the way that the money is collected, a significant chunk of the income is spent on policing the collection via licence enforcement. All we actually need is for the environment to be protected as the law demands.

In principle it's indefensible and should instead be funded out of general taxation and charges upon those who break the law, in practice it's the only way the damn thing gets funded properly.

Just look at the impact millions of dog poo bags have hanging on fences or trees ,i doubt the dog warden goes round picking them up .

Strange theres the effort picking up the poop in the middle of no where but leaving it in the bags ?! Far safer just to look the other way ,different in populated areas though ofcourse but i have seen it hanging on the play park opposites gate when theres a bin 75 yards away

Surrey is getting clever though instead of maintaining tracks they simply put a sign' unsuitable for vehicles ' then they can get round filling the potholes caused by the offroad bikes and 4x4's

Trouble is the biggest offenders are the water companies who immediatly raise prices so the tax payer pays anyway ,fine the bosses personally

Absolutely. apply that to companies that fiddle the books, bankers who lend irresponsibly and wealthy wrong-doers everywhere.

Could wipe out the National Debt within five years.

I have still not received mine despite the EA telling me I would get it in the next ten days on 4/04/2017.
