The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I thought about it a few days ago cos the wife had an opticians appointment, when she told me it was the 6th June, my immediate thought was "I won't forget that, it's D Day".

I don't forget her appointments anyway, there's so many they all go on a calendar: I do forget to look at the calendar though. :D

Eyesight was 20/20 after two recent cataract ops, just new reading glasses required.

Saturday i remembered because we went to the D day village fair in this case Dockenfield day but it tries to get as near to the other D day as possible for reverance or cheap advertising i dont know

The media is still having its moslem headlines to remember i guess ,spotted one flag in aldershot at half mast (pleasently the right way up) but i think for the dead in london rather than france?

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I remember the evening of the FIFTH of June. Nobody mentioned any details, but "They're on their way" was the whisper everywhere, Pretty obvious really, one day there were stacks of military convoys of tanks, field guns, lorries and bren-gun carriers - the next day.....all gone.

I watched a superb docu-drama on D Day last night (I think it was on the Yesterday channel) and it really brought home to me just how dangerous the whole operation was and how brave those young soldiers were. The scale of what took place was breathtaking and it was truly a momentous achievement.

God forbid we should ever forget.
