Born in Wortley, now live in Morley.

Worked in Hunslet for a few years but don't know that address.

Was a member of a few angling clubs in the Wortley, Armley area, and fished local league, and Leeds and District matches, until the match scene changed.

Absolutely Brilliant. Been looking for something to replace the bait aprons that only seem to last a season and, because i'm a short arse, end up getting wet when wading. Then a chance comment by you two and problem solved, maggot bag. I was in process of making one!!

 

As regards the reel, progress i'm afraid. Plastic replaces 'last for ever' engineering.

I'd willingly pay about a £1-50 for one. They take about 2mins to sew, and use about 20p worth of material. Way back in the day, they used to cost 1s 6d each, and I know a woman that used to make them, as a work from home job. She got 3d for each maggot bag, and 1s for each rod bag. I've made loads myself from old jeans legs, different sizes for different amounts of bait. I will advise against making them too big though, having half a gallon of maggots hanging from your neck, gets heavy after a while.

If anyone does buy the ones in the ad, I advise them to turn the bag inside out before using. Maggots crawl into the seam if you don't, and when you think you've fully emptied it, you realise a week or so later that you haven't. You open it to get a squadron of bluebottles attacking from the depths of the bag.
