Otter Petition

From TAT's web site, they ain't happy with one of their fishing org 'partners' The government warns them to leave the otters alone and TAT ain't happy with natural England as they haven't communicated with them.

So all's good for the otter. :D It's much the same for us sea anglers I suppose for wanting seals and dolphins dead because they eat fish, B)

While the Government understand concerns raised about the impact otters may have on fish populations, they are a protected species and there are no plans to introduce methods to control their numbers.

The Government understands that there are concerns that otters may have adverse impacts on fish populations and wildlife more generally but we do not accept that the otter ‘has become a detriment to the river environment’.

They also made clear that with the current high level of legal protection afforded to the otter even ‘non lethal control’, as proposed by the petition, would constitute a criminal offence.

Otters are a protected species and it is an offence to harm, capture, kill, disturb or injure any animal and/or damage, destroy or obstruct their resting or sheltering places. Therefore any methods of control, including non-lethal methods, would constitute an offence.

Despite holding a joint meeting with the Barbel Society on the subject of otter predation in October 2017 and repeatedly pressing its current management for a clear position statement on what they were seeking to achieve, the Angling Trust has received no response and was not consulted on either the wording or the wisdom of launching this petition.

However, the Trust has committed to press Natural England to take action to end the unregulated release of otters which have been ‘rehabilitated’ after sustaining injuries from cars or fighting between themselves. These animals are currently released into the environment without any consultation or consideration of their impacts on nearby fisheries.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

At the end of the day uneducated people will shoot and trap otters wether its illegal or not.

Imo now that there are a few otters knocking about they should allow the hunting of otters with the otterhound once purely to prevent the hounds extinction!

Hare coursing is now illegal, but is still rife, mainly in Lincolnshire, with thousands of £'s Bet on the outcome.

When it was a Legal sport - Never mind the cruelty to the poor Hare (which usually got away through strategically placed gaps in the hedge) The point of the sport at that time was, points scored on how many times the dog could turn the Hare - Not Killing it.

The real Tragedy was the Number of Greyhounds & Lurchers put down by the Hooray Henry's in the game.

Namely Sir Mark Prescott (Race Horse Trainer) who would buy maybe 100 dogs for the Coursing Season - then have 60 or so shot because they weren't up to it.

Don't think he ever managed to win the "Waterloo Cup" - The Blue Riband Hare coursing Prize at the time.

The waterloo cup was only a few miles from my home and me and my m8's would go every year.

Theres so much bullshine spoken about the cup by antis and townies its beyond belief.

No hares where ever brought in cages etc etc. The TV cameras would always zoom in on one of the very few hares caught at the cup and make a massive ordeal out of it.....efffin BBC!

Lots of friends of mine still go out coursing. None of them would ever lamp a hare as that aint sport.
