Andrew 505
Just came in from an evening session with my son on my local estate lake where we were the only ones there. . There had been a small club match in the morning which I didnt fancy doing because of the incessant heat and I didnt like the idea of fishing with the sun shining down on me throughout the morning; so we both decided to chase a few Carp into the evening when it was a bit cooler. My son Stuart had several Carp up to 15lb plus two Bream of around 4 and 5lb which took a fancy to his Source boilees. I also had several Carp the biggest being 17lb 12oz plus a small Wells Catfish of around 7lb which I had to place in a net set aside for anyone catching Catfish which is periodically removed from the lake. So no 20lb Carp tonight but a very pleasant evening with a beautiful remote estate lake all to ourselves. It was pure magic. I think this is the photo of my biggest carp of the evening: and this is the small Wells Catfish that I had Keith Where do the Wells Catfish go Keith? Nice carp btw 1 "La conclusión es que los insultos sólo perjudican cuando vienen de alguien que respeto". “Vescere bracis meis”

gozzer 938
Hell hopefully! And hopefully those that keep moving them about do aswell! A lake near me had at least 6 small catfish illegally stocked by some idiot. The club that ran the place asked that they should be despatched should they get caught. Some anglers couldn't kill it when they did catch one, and I was heavily criticised, both on the bank, and on here, when I did kill the one I caught. The stupidity, and selfishness, of some anglers amazes me. John. 2 Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... BoldBear 197
Where do the Wells Catfish go Keith? Nice carp btw I think our club has permission from the NRA to transfer them to a certain Catfish fishery in the county that does not have any inlets or outlets. Weve had them caught up-to 40lb-plus in our estate lake although I think weve got rid of most of them. Some idiots have been illegally stocking them into several other fisheries nearby as well, My other club has Catfish in exess of 55lb and they are also having to get rid of them too. The only good thing is that they seem to have got rid of our Turkish Crays as I havent seen one of these in the last two years and these Crays used to be prolific. Martin56 331
Nice Carp Keith, not to mention yet another great report but its mouth parts seem to be somewhat shortened?? Indicative of being caught too many times, or is it the result of some disease/virus?? I see this type of thing on so many commercial fisheries I go on!! I've even caught them with a hooked mouth a bit like the Kype of a cock salmon (but not nearly so handsome) Edited July 20, 2018 by Martin56 Fishin' - "Best Fun Ya' can 'ave wi' Ya' Clothes On"!! BoldBear 197
Yes Martin its mouth was not in the best of condition to say the least and It isnt very often that we catch one like that. I've even caught them with a hooked mouth a bit like the Kype of a cock salmon (but not nearly so handsome)This is one of the ugliest Carp Ive caught so far; I caught it on my local stream while after barbel and it looks a bit like it was trying to imitate a barbel with its elongated shape and deformed dorsal and underslung mouth, but there was no physical damage apart from its weird deformaties. Martin56 331
Is there something happening in the rivers between Barbel & Carp?? Barbel are after all members of the carp family!! Nature will always find a way. There's something very Barbelesque about your photo'!! (IMHO) When you say "Local Stream" - seems even more intimate!! I would never have thought they were moved illegally by the club Keith. 55lbs, good weight , but not for me, horrible stinking things. I have a mate who used to live in Spain and he used to fish for them on a regular basis in the mountain lake where he lived. 100lb plus were not unusual for him. Good luck to the club in getting rid of them. 1 "La conclusión es que los insultos sólo perjudican cuando vienen de alguien que respeto". “Vescere bracis meis”

Tigger 705
I haven't been on here very much at all for some time but do try and look in now and again....it's just so quiet on here now! I've been doing my usual trotting and had a few good catches of chub and barbel this season, had a couple of double figure barbel 12lber and an 11lber. This season i've had hundreds of gudgeon, I had 14 in 14 trotts a couple of weeks ago! They seem to have had a population explosion in the river, nice to see as I went many years without catching a single one. I did take a few pic's but can't post em because of problems with the laptop and can't do it with this pad thing.
