Not unusual i get confused what the toilets for some days!

Anyway i have been reading using a VPN is good practice nowadays (my neice had to use one in china just to download stuff from uni!)

Anyway if your anonymous why do sites recognise who you are?

Its cookies ofcourse but how can you (other than deleting everyone of them) go onto the web completely anonymously? ,it seems silly buying a vpn service then having your cookies give you away in seconds ,surely on your pc is the isp's cookies so you dont have to keep logging in to browse the web?

Chesters1,

The answer is yes but no.

Using the web as 99.9 percent of us do without a trace is going to be nearly impossible.

Tracking technologies have become so commonplace and embedded within the modern web browsing experience that some mainstream news websites won’t even load correctly if the user is attempting to block advertisements or avoid cookies

But

These guys say if you follow the 17 steps it may be possible

https://www.csoonline.com/article/2975193/data-protection/9-steps-completely-anonymous-online.html

Do I believe them. I don't know. I couldn't understand paragraph two.
