I get 2.5mb on a good day ,a bit of rain and a page times out before it loads so we give up .

I always get caught out by my sisters though the green box is next to her house so i sit twiddling my thumbs thinking updates are downloading at my speed when they finish a few seconds after clicking on them.

Its time we paid for what we get ,just had a cheeky email from bt ,if i pay more they will guarantee me 10mb the thing is they dont understand i already pay for up to 17 so i should get it anyway grrrr

I have com0ained more than once they garaunteed me 5mb at last moan but the magic word "connections" pops up to get them off the hook !

Maybe you should move to the Island with Huge? ;-)

Not as fast, but I've been told by KCom that there's a slight problem with my lightstream, I just need to contact them to sort it....

I'm impressed with this fibre-optic stuff (which in our case comes straight to the house instead of to the nearest junction box or whatever they're called). Now, instead of taking ages to download a HD film, it's done in less time than it takes to read this post!

They call them cabinets. There are two types of fiber. There is Fiber To The Cabinet. (FTTC) Fiber-optic to the cabinet, copper from cabinet to premises. This is what I have. There is also FTTP, Fiber To The Premises. where the fiber-optic cable goes all the way to the subscribers' premises.
