Cyclists riding no-handed

I don't have any problem with Martin killing and maiming the lowlife breaking into his home and wouldn't hesitate to do the same in certain circumstances, so me labelling him a murderer is a description, not a condemnation.

I will however happily condemn the, illegally held gun, the construction traps, laying in wait, and shooting them in the back - assuming he could see which way they were facing.

As I've said on previous threads, Martin is not the right person to use as a poster boy for robust home defence.

I don't have a problem with someone defending themselves. I do have a problem with dipshits that think they have the right to set themselves up as judge, jury and executioner.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I have more of a problem with dipshits who think they can break into your property and steal with impunity, though I do agree with Ken in that Tony Martin isnt a good example in the same way that neither is Oscar Pistorius

Back to the original thread, I keep seeing posters at road junctions, etc, urging us to "Think Bike"

I cannot help but comply, adding to myself "they are too stupid to think for themselves"

Perhaps the posters would have more impact if my amendment were added ?

Perhaps if cage drivers thought of others we would not need "Think Bike" signs. I have lost count of how many times some divot pulled out in front of me from a T junction and tthe excuse was "I didn't see you mate", an admission of driving without due care.

Pretty pointless observation, as would be my recounting how many times I've had to make an emergency stop or swerve because a cyclist does something daft.

By regarding cyclists as crass idiots I've probably saved about a dozen of their lives.

By the way I rode a cycle from age 10 to 16, a motor cycle from age 16 to age 22, have driven a car ever since, plus tractors, minibuses, light goods vehicles and steam locomotives and towed caravans and trailers. Allied to that I have been a pedestrian for the best part of my 85 years. So I have experienced road traffic conditions from all aspects. There is no doubt that the untrained (that's 99 % of them) cyclists are the biggest menace to road safety.

Yes, I know all cyclists on this forum regard themselves as paragons of excellence., Whether or not this is true, you are all very safe from me, why ? because I regard all cyclists as suicidal idiots and give them a wide berth.

you should be thanking me for it.

AS not all road users think as I do, then you need some self-protection. A cycling proficiency test, registration and MOT tests of cycles plus third party insurance should be mandatory.

PS, I forgot to add that cycles should be road-taxed.

why should cycles be road taxed ? cars aren't and haven't been since 1937. if your talking VED, that's based on emissions and I suspect cycles would fall in the same bracket as electric cars and be exempt.

As for cyclists being the biggest menace to road safety well that's just complete ****** and any accident survey data will up hold this, yes some cyclists are idiots but there are far more car drivers who are are and cause accidents than cyclists.

The"Think Bike" campaign is for motorcyclists.

There is no such thing as "Road Tax", "Road Tax" was abolished in the nineteen-thirties. Motor Vehicle Exice Duty is a tax one pays to run a motor vehicle on the road. Why should a bicycle that has no engine be subject to Motor Vehicle Excise Duty?

Taxation perhaps not but certainly insurance and a registration plate ,about 3 ft square should do it ,theres a 50/50 chance it maybe help in windy conditions as a sail.we Need obvious ways of identifying individual bikes so they can be punished for breaking the rules other road users have to follow !
