Yes, I'm familiar with both bighead and silver carp, although I've never caught them.

They appear to feed in much the same way as katla or Siamese carp.

Your Chinese import feeder rig is a bit crude and a single hook will suffice.

All,

We had a lad from South Africa who posted this rig.  He was a bighead specialist.  Remember him?  I can't call his name

All,

None of the hooks were baited except the one in the center.

Are you thinking of Scott - AKA Worldfisher?

I don't know about him being a bighead specialist but he's originally from South Africa and he's certainly caught katla/catla at Powai Lake in Mumbai.

Ken,

These small lakes or ponds are called Oxbows. The post flood ones last a year maybe two.  We do have several along the river that are maintained as parks and recreation areas.  The one nearest me has a reputation for Bighead Carp (not carp at all, Asian carp).  I suspect many went back into the river during flooding.  The stock takes 4 -5 years to build back. In Missouri I believe the record is about 100lbs.  My PB probably 40+
