The nanny state

Unot all zebra crossings make noises ,the blind person uses the spinning knob to know when to cross!a deaf person uses the green man or lights

In my near misses walking in the road is mandatory or swinging from the tree tops ,footpaths dont exist on most of my way to the bus stop.

Uusing the countryside code is a foolish thing to do in some cases ,meeting speeding cars especially electric ones on a blind bend is a death wish so you cross over and walk on the "wrong" side until its safe to cross back.As your walking with your back to traffic on your side then all you have is your ears to keep you alive ,in the country you have a chance of hearing an electric car (luckily i have good hearing) stepping off a path in a town would be unadvisable as you wouldnt hear an electric car over the din of town life!

If your putting sounds on electric cars go further and put them on bicycles i have more close calls with them than electric cars and they invade footpaths aswell!

I hate to be a pedant but ZEBRA crossings don't make any noise and are not controlled by lights. They have a Belisha Beacons instead. You are thinking of PELICAN crossings. Not all PELICAN crossings have the spinning button for blind people. It is up to the local authority whether to implement them or not. In Southampton some have the spinning button and some do not..

After reading your's and Kens post, I understand why some countries call us "whinging poms".

All,

I am said moron when in England. Through Pavlov conditioning I first look the wrong way first and I am half in the intersection before realizing I'm about to get killed by a double decker bus.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that a man died and came back to life three days later and that miracles occur. The plural of anecdotes is not data.

I'm glad that legislation concerning sound made by electric vehicles is such a big concern for you. Many people have much more pressing concerns to occupy their time.

Did it never occur to you that you have had surgery to cure evolutionary weakneeses in your eyes? In the "wild" you would be reliant on others to feed you because you would not be a very effective hunter.

An evolutionary weakness? I'll tell that to the chappie whose fingers did the damage next time I have a beer with him - he's brown though so he might think the names you're calling him are a bit racist.

New regulations to protect phone zombies.

Honestly, you couldn't make it up.

Whatever happened to the old fashioned notion of taking some personal responsibility and looking before stepping into a road?

All we really need is a resurrection of this -

In my case i cannot step off the road ,phone zombies get what they deserve especially talking using headphones

Is it legislation or cheap words ,you know the ones where cyclists on the pavements get fined? And marching them to cash machines to pay a fine etc

I see cyclists on pavements and going through red lights but never seen one stopped by police ,just cheap words .

Probably spin to hide something more important going on they dont want us to see

Wow - 4 Grand for not looking Left, Right then Left again!!!

Once again the Biggest Crooks (Lawyers) were the real winners here.

Judge said the bloke could have counter sued so she would have had to pay half of his Legal fees - 50 Grand apiece.

(What were his Lawyers doing by not going after Her for that??)

Nice work if you can get it!!

I've clipped two on the bike but the only one I hit full on was a gormless (and drunk) tit who thought it would be a good idea to jump in front of me.
I lost a tooth in that encounter but it was 7m before he hit the ground.
