Wasps

He could smear jam round the edge of the tanks and the wasps would fall in ,good idea or just teach the parrots (probably easier to do) to eat wasps i am sure they could crunch them up with their beaks with ease ,hey with thought we could cure every fault on the planet if they were wasp parrot or tank related

Most of my tanks were just 6ft by 2ft by 2.5 ft pretty much bog standard plastic edged shop tanks of the time ,all had 2 or 3 glass dividers which in the bottom row i removed for my pacus and oscars and the lake tanganyika fish and lots of fresh water fish .

The breeding tanks kept the dividers as i am an unashamed collector so i had as many different geophagus as i could find in pairs breeding their selves making money until i saturated every blooming shop around and the became common .

Now ofcourse they are easy to find and easy to breed

I had big water problems though it wasnt nice to drink so living and breeding in it hard ,i started from pure and tried multiple concoctions of chemicals trying to match the water the buggers came from so they bred ,i still dont drink tap water it goes through a five stage filter to this day but reunning a reverse osmoses expensive so i make do with carbon lol

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a 30 gallon tank bought for my 14th Birthday, filled with Guppies, Black mollies, Sword tails Black sharks, Scalairs (Angel fish) Neon Tetras, Cardinal tetras, 3 spot Gouramis a coolie Loach, Beta Splendens (Siamese Fighting Fish) etc.

I used to wind up the fighting fish with a Mirror who then thought it's Image was a rival.

The other fish tore its fins to pieces - they never fight non professionals.

Female fighting fish had short fins (they didn't fight) Then the importers started bringing in short fin males which did!! The UK shops could only then do the "Mirror Thing" to sort them out!!

I used to wind up firemouths and convicts with a mirror, loads of fish get annoyed at their own reflections and attack lol.

The exodon paradoxus which I keep with my caribes are a bit on the feisty side, good in a shoal though and never stop moving about.

Don't know if they still do it in Thailand, but they used to (maybe still do) put 2 Male fighting fish in a jar & bet on the outcome.

Think though they would try to rescue the vanquished to fight another day??
