New angler.

Good afternoon anglers. I have just been made aware I am now a fully fledged member of your forum and thought I better make an appearance in here and introduce myself. Im luke, Im a new angler from hull. Literally been fishing for around 3 weeks and still learning to master the basics. Any advice would be greatly received. I have been using a lake called risby up my end a lot. Easy fishing for small silvers and not hard to catch smaller carp, around 5lb average. There is some bigger things in there but nothing I have caught as yet. Let me know if any of you guys know of any other good spots around hull.

Thanks.

Hello Luke and welcome to Anglers Net :)

Bakers Pond in Newport is one of my favourite spots. Turn right into Thimblehall Lane and the entrance is about 100 yards on the right hand side, car park at the rear. Choose the side nearest the road for small stuff, fish close-in, and loose feed a few maggots (if that's your bait of choice) every 2 or 3 casts. Haven't been for a few years (health has meant taking a bit of a break from fishing) but they used to sell crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks from the house and probably still do. Tickets paid for on the bank. On site bog.

Hi Luke, welcome to the forum - some great advice on here & we'll get you catching in no time.

What rod/rods you got?? (you'll need 6 - 8 Lb main line for the Carp)

Being able to tie a double overhand loop in the main line is a good start!!

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+tie+a+double+overhand+loop+knot&rlz=1C1CHWA_enGB610GB610&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=vzn6HpeH6T06nM%253A%252C4cfdw1s7eGYeWM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kQDZzppX03BRZJKNIYso2LPJJF0yw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwij59mDifzjAhX0SRUIHackDu4Q9QEwAHoECAEQAw#imgrc=vzn6HpeH6T06nM:

You can then connect "Ready Tied" hook lengths "Loop to Loop" - these are under £3 for a pack of 8.

There's Viking fishery at Pollington (Goole) 3 Lakes. My favourite venue.

Goole is near Hull last time I looked lol.

Laurie & Margaret are very nice people & will put you on a good pleasure peg.

Fish the float with meat, corn, maggot, pellet, prawn, mussel, but no floating baits!! - Feeder seems to spook them here for some reason!!

It's nice easy fishing (especially down the edge) but ALL fish MUST be netted!!!!! - that's the rules.

Strong tackle recommended!!

Please mention to Laurie you were put on to it by a member of the Rothwell Angling Society (he was a junior member back in the day)

He's a smashing fella'.

You might not get them all out, but a nice days fishing is almost guaranteed.
