Ridiculous examples of modern fishing tackle.

Those pen rods have been out for a long time.

We had a member Kirisute, that used to promote them for an American company. Not sure whether he actually worked for them, or just got samples to try, but he loved them.

Very limited in what you could use them for, but he used to use one on a 'carp puddle' and had some decent sized fish out.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I use mine on a little local stream that's very overgrown to catch trout to use as dead baits.

I also let the grandkids use it as it's so simple and it gets them interested.

It always attracts interest from other anglers, especially those with youngsters.

If all else fails, follow the intructions.

I didn't think anyone else would remember that!

I think he only used it to try and promote/get sales.

I bought myself one of the Maggipults that the then world champion Bob Nudd used to promote.

It was a contraption that enabled you to fire out loose feed one handed to around 14 metres when your using a pole.

It was elasticated and when used it used to make an awfull thwack!! noise which sent every fish for miles to cover, and I threw mine into the back of my shed after trying it a couple of times and its still probably there somewhere.

A chap i know swears by his, seems to work ok!

Maroon thing with twin elestic and a cup with a hole in it so it slides on the shaft?

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Yes thats the one Chesters, only mine was green.

It was promoted by the great Bob Nudd who even bought a video out demonstrating how to use it..

I bought one and it's still in the back of my shed where I threw it soon after I bought it.

I thought that a small homemade throwing stick was a lot better, and was certainly a lot quieter.

It made an almighty THWACK!!! as it fired out your maggots (to approx 14 Mtrs max) which must have been heard by any self respecting fish in your swim; and they didnt seem to catch on for obvious reasons as Ive never seen them being used on the bank since then.

They still sell a few on the Web and a few people still swear by them, but I don't know anyone personally who still uses one; or will admit to it Lol.

I rather like those distance sticks, not so keen on the over fity quid part. Even if they were extremly cheap, I'm not sure I would buy actual "distance sticks" when something else would suffice. However, from using sticks before I have struggled to find them to measure out my line rolleyes.gif Even with bank sticks, some times I have really had to try to find them. That might say more about my eye site then anything else but using something that is easy to see is a good idea unless you are a secret squirrel and dont want some one else working out the distance to your spot.

I have a couple of those pen rods for using on holiday when I dont want to take any tackle but at the same time want something just in case. Are anglers ever not fishing in their heads and getting stuff for just in case? I have one pen reel loaded with 25lb braid and one with 2lb line. With the braid, I often end up hand lining biggish fish as you have little actual control with big fish. I just like the idea of using a rod as an actual small hand line would work better but often fishing is how you catch and not actually what you catch.
