Polls are showing a convincing Tory lead at this point, but I suspect that the data was gathered before the candidates contesting seats were finalised and of course, we have yet to see any meaningful debates between party leaders.

One thing that I think we will see is a lot of people who have voted for the same party as their father and their grandfather all their lives are going to change allegiance - and I think that Labour are going to suffer because of it.

Certainly, my own father has said that he will be voting Tory for the first time in his life - and so will I.

I'm a traditional Labour voter brought up in a staunch Labour household. But I think i'll be going along with chesters1 and not voting at all in the coming general election. I can not bring myself to vote for Corbyn and his bunch of useless cronies, the Lib Dems just wind me up with their utter arrogance (and are a non entity in my eyes) and one would have to drag me kicking and screaming to put an X next to a Tory candidates name, I just wouldn't be able to live with myself, and it's not ever going to happen whilst I still hold my core values of fairness, equality & compassion....values that the Conservatives have a history of sorely lacking.

On the issue of Brexit I lean towards the Conservatives more than any other party, but on that issue alone, and that's not enough for me to vote for them.

I vote chesters1 :D

I like that, "my core values of fairness, equality & compassion" a good description Ant, and one that has described my thoughts over the years. I've always considered myself a 'socialist with a small s'. Both trying to live up to those values, but also realising that we need a degree of 'capitalism' (note small c), to provide work, and income. I wasn't brought up in a traditional Labour household, my parents had me late in life, and my dad died when I was 10, so not much chance to discuss his politics with him. My mum just 'got on' with trying to provide for, and bring up a family in the early 60s, no time to worry about politics. I got more political in my late teens/early twenties, when I saw how working men were manipulated by both their employers, and the Unions that were supposed to protect/represent them. I also come to realise the power advertising had on peoples lives, not just products, but on their hopes, goals, and political ideals. I always voted Labour, because they seemed closer to my thoughts than any other party. The 80s, the Thatcher years hit me and those around me very hard, both financially, and psychologically, I saw two close friends die because of the impact those policies had on their lives, one committed suicide, another just gave up on life. I was made redundant 3 times during Thatchers reign, and it made me vow never to vote Tory, in any election. I've stuck to that vow, always voting Independent in local elections, they usually, at least live in the area. I have spoiled my paper in a protest vote a couple of times, because no party has represented my views. I live in what was the all singing, all dancing Ed Balls constituency, he lost out to Andrea Jenkyns. Back then I thought of her as an arrogant woman, but having spoken to her, and seen what she's worked for in the local community, and she's very much pro Brexit, I am tempted to break my vow give her my vote, but the jury is still out on that.

Looks like the Labour Party are intent on leaving the door wide open for all of Eastern Europe and (as soon as an EU grants them citizenship) all of Merkels millions.

We can wave bye-bye to the NHS and our pensions if that happens.

I saw that too Ken. Hopefully when Labour loses the general election Corbyn, Abbott et al will have no other option but to step aside.

Then what?

The rot is deep and the principle driven old men that I didn't often agree with but could at least respect are all gone.
With or without the unholy trinity of Abbott, Corbyn and McDonnell, the modern Labour party has nothing to offer its traditional employed white working class base who have no interest in the revolutionary Marxism of Momentum or the "woke" minority worship of the metropolitan elite.
Labour are finished.

I confess to a little concern about what will replace them. It could so easily become very, very dangerous.
