David Duckensfield

Surely David  Duckensfield should have been found guilty over the Manslaughter of 95 people at the Hillsborough disaster 30 years ago, but maybe a sentence of "Time Served" could have brought some closure for the victims relatives rather than he got off Scot Free.

It's consumed a lot of lives including his!! (I'd like to think)

The man's life has been destroyed. Not only by the events of that day but by a 30 year legal process at the end of which, a court failed to convict.

What more do you want?

There are far to many cases going through the courts where the process is the punishment. It's even happening now where there has been no crime and there is no recourse for the accused person.

There are no winners here, but some middle ground could have been achieved.

Had it been a Matchday steward responsible - he'd have been in the Nick still now!!

96 people's lives were destroyed  on the day(1 less because one died more than a year & a day afterwards)

Then the relatives lives thereafter!!.

The courts shouldn't take any account of such things but a guilty verdict and a sentence of "Time Served" wouldn't have resulted in closure for anyone. The sharks would simply have started circling again as everyone involved descended into a feeding frenzy, looking for a piece of the man's house, his savings and his pension plan.

Is that why it's taken 30 years for lawyers to buy him the time??

I did say "Some kind of closure".

He didn't have such a bad job!!

It seems to have gone quiet now Ken!! Having made sure David (Bless him) has secured his pension & all the other benefits becoming his position!!

Only He knows if he's Guilty or Innocent, regardless of the verdict.

A strange on Martin.

I don't remember the incident, Brits get killed or kill each other at football games at regular intervals.

The question I have is this.  Didn't the fans have a responsibility to "know" the perils?  Wouldn't they know they should not enter without paying?  But my over riding question - How the F could it possibly take 30 years????
