Yep, we need protecting from those food hygine practices that lead to Americans suffering lower rates of food poisining than the EU.
 

Tell me Paul, if we chlorine wash cabbage, potatoes, carrots, bean sprouts  and hundreds of other products, why shouldn't we chlorine wash chicken?

My argument Ken is gove swore blind no chlorinated chicken but now a change of plan ,Vegetables to meat is there a difference in the outcome .
But that’s not really the issue. Chlorine washes and sprays used in the US do help manage pathogens like salmonella and campylobacter and protect consumers from infections. But the EU argues that potentially poorer hygiene standards elsewhere in the process are a health concern and that the chlorine wash could simply be used as a whitewash, covering up for lower production standards on the whole.

The EU is merely trying to protect their own salmonella and listeria infected exports by diverting the attention to American imports potentially undercutting EU prices. Remember the infected turkey and chicken ? EU produced! Romanian pork exports killed a few aswell !

Remember this ,we dont need to look complacent we can infect meat aswell .

The only arguments put forward in that piece are protectionist.

The simple fact is that there are different ways to achieve the same goals.

Eggs are a great example. When eggs are laid, they are covered in a secretion that rapidly dries to form a barrier that allows air to pass, while keeping bacteria out. If you wash it off, your eggs will go off quicker.

In the US, it's mandatory to wash eggs and it is customary to keep them in the fridge.

In the UK, it is illegal to wash them and most people store eggs without refrigeration.

Both systems work perfectly well but it's not uncommon to have chicken sh1t on your eggs in the UK and when you crack them, this can get into your food.

Which system is "better"?

And if a minister has changed their position, so what?

We wash them and keep them in the fridge because chickens crap from the area the eggs come from .

I would be watching brazil far more than the USA

Poor poor cod ,running out of excuses in the vain attempt to stop something already done! so the same old broken record goes around again ,not the first time chicken has been dragged out ,knowing cod it will be dragged out again once the red bus ,the usual brexiters were lied to ,nissan etc etc are dragged out pointlessly!

He should be concentrating on the end of the month Which "will "come not chickens which" may "come!

Obviously (to most), I was talking about what happens prior to sale.

If you wan't to wash your eggs and keep them in the fridge - have at it horse.

Broken record yes we won’t have chlorinated chicken , yes we will have chlorinated chicken how will public react lied to so let wait and see which lie they prefer to use there are so many of them with brexit .Remember we hold all the cards  what a pile of crap that is .

I have said it ,you have said it THEY LIE thats what they are employed to do ! Peole want them to they vote them in knowing it!

If you vote for a system thats corrupt full of corrupt employees then thats what you get! You think this parliament is bad thats nothing on the EU they are politicians as well!

No one is forcing you to eat chlorinated chicken if theres no demand they wont import the ****ing stuff! I will eat it if its cheaper than whats available if not i wont ,end of!
