The last time Chinese labourers came to Morecambe Bay, they all drowned. Terrible incident but if that's how dodgy British people want to make maximum profit, that's what they have to do in the fishing industry.

Or we could do it the Scandinavian way.

Scandinavian skippers only use Scandinavian seafarer's.

Whoops

Any industry exploits the illegal ,illiterate and lowest paid ,thats how they get profit whilst still competing .Cods romanian workers dont drive prices down they keep profit up the only people  to gain are the company bosses

A hell of a lot of the whitefish boats in the U.K.  use Philippine labour and have done for many many years .know.

Depends if they want to work for peanuts or not .most Philippine workers work through an agency who specialises in supply crews for boats and have   a history with supplying Philippine workers  .

I do chuckle when the Brexiteers say poor fishermen well there wasn’t one I knew and I know plenty , but that Was till 1 st January 2021  but there is  going to be  plenty now .

If they are working for an agency they most probably will be changing boats routinely ,they then dont have any rights and dont have to be paid even minimum wage like any agency staff ( or maybe if the rules havt changed) .

Not cheap labour competition boat ownership competition ,hong kong is very expensive to live so anyone coming here must be rich,i will expect the non fishing immigrants will set up agencies in competition to the existing ones .They are not all illiterate chinese from the country we taught them well that why the chinese despise them

Yes it still apears a minimum of 12 weeks in the same place is the minimum to aquire working rights ,thats why your cheap labour in the NHS is going from hospital to hospital ,we noticed in my many visits in one year the cleaning staff and some nursing staff disapeared and turned up in another hospital and then back 3 months later

They don’t change boats unless they are sacked from that boat , they get paid a daily rate and have there flights paid for to travel  home and back but do long stints at a time . They won’t be replaced many have worked in the U.K. for years and there labour is cheap.

If you read the bit i was adding ,the "going home " bit is explained ,workers rights only kick in after 12 weeks ,so if they go somewhere else and come back the agency doesnt have to give them minimum wage ,or holidays etc

Thats ofcourse why the NHS uses them ,cheap nurses for the agency ,on demand staff for the NHS at probably higher prices than non agency but no problems with bolshy staffs working conditions

I expect most of the fleet is on its way ,probably take some months but the richer non sailors will be coming quicker now china is after them ready to start businesses  ,beats those romanians anytime

PS breiters dont say poor fishermem ,fishermen do to try and get more gov handouts

It’s a good option for reading news how other Countries see things, called broadening your horizons, if you don’t speak multiple languages.
