Ant,

He was from Scotland I believe. It may have been someone other than you.  I think he fished with another younger AN member - guess it may not have been you.

I enjoyed his comments and approach to telling others they were wrong and "go pound chit".

Do you mean Andy MacFarlane Phone?

He fished with 'Andy1984', both from Scotland. Sadly he passed away a few years ago, at an early age. I can't see anyone ever having to defend him, he stood his ground, and spoke his mind, a trait that I admire.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Gozzer,

YES !  That is exactly who I'm referring to. Perhaps "defend" is a tad strong.  Maybe "agree with".

In any event, I enjoyed the "firmness" of his convictions.

edit: sorry ant - wrong member - "a mind is a terrible thing to loose

Ah I remember Andy MacFarlane, mainly because he shared his last name with one of my favourite Scottish characters, Peter MacFarlane (aka Para Handy). Yep, he knew his mind and stuck to his guns no matter what. But then, Scottish ;)
