Ken is looking at the wrong name, the link is for the tablet version I prefer the effervescent

https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/3923/smpc

This is the weaker plus version but it has codiene aswell as caffeine

https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/6488/smpc

Didnt know there was an ibuprofen version on googling it has the 12.8mg of codeine but probably in the latest revalations not good to use at the moment!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solpadeine

Solpadeing headach is the one with just paracetamol and caffeine

It's confusing:

In the United Kingdom there are four different medicines using the Solpadeine name, with no common active ingredient between them. The range includes:

  • Solpadeine Headache, containing paracetamol with caffeine
  • Solpadeine Plus, a compound analgesic containing paracetamol and codeine (co-codamol), with caffeine
  • Solpadeine Max, a compound analgesic containing paracetamol and codeine (with a higher codeine content than Solpadeine Plus) and caffeine
  • Solpadeine Migraine, a compound analgesic containing ibuprofen and codeine

This is why I'm not a big fan of branded drugs - just tell me what's in the damned pills!

Basically excepting caffeine the more you pay (and it's expensive) the more you get!
At one time 8mg was the limit for over the chemists counter codeine but it seems it's now 12.8 hence the "max" not sure why the migraine version isn't migraine max but there you go

My Mrs is prescribed co-codamol 500/30 and they do to an extent work, codeine isn't a pain killer it allows you to manage the pain by dulling it.GP's now are very reluctant to prescribe it for two reasons its codeine is addictive (my Mrs is hooked) and paracetamol can harm the liver if taken in excess so a double-edged sword. It, however, works and in effervescent form works faster (you use the dissolving time in a glass then neck it) than tablets

I am prescribed 100 30mg codiene a month so make my own "cocodamol " by using  2 fizzy paracetamol and 2 codiene but theres not enough for a month so i use 2 solpadeine max and 1 codiene tab which stretches out the codiene but at a cost! Being over 60 i dont pay for drugs so the extra cost is about what i would pay if i paid for the prescription charges of the rest of my meds

I am not hooked yet if i dont have pain i dont use them as i am houseband self isolating and not out shopping the corona virus is saving me money! that silver lining again!

PS my mrs uses 10mg butrans patches to date sticking 2 codeine to your arm under a plaster  ISNT the same ?

Well i've joined the hoards and started stockpiling. I was in Tesco and wanted to fit in, got confused and panicked. I still don't have any loo roll or hand wash, but I have 6 new ironing boards, 24 packets of plastic clothes pegs and a ton of Brillo pads if anyone is short.

You’re not alone Ant, I went to Lidl to add to my stock they had a three item limit so I came out with three mig welders, three pink sports bras and three spare wheels for a wheelbarrow, not going in there again!

I’ve heard that Waitrose are limiting sales only to people in detached houses so will go there tomorrow.

Chocolate seems to be the latest thing for hoarding.

In Morrison's today, there were people with trollies loaded up with the stuff - all egg shaped.

Wife went out shopping just to try & get a few essentials & was told by someone out doing the same that Curry's had sold out of their entire stock of Freezers!!

"Bleedin' Panic Buyers", & buying spare Freezers so they can do it even more!!!!! :wallbash:

The queue to pay in Morrison's & Aldi was as normal - where are the staff making sure of the 2 metre space between customers waiting to pay!!!

I bet the yanks are not laughing at the "preppers" any more lol

Got some serious shopping to do once its all over ,we have not shopped since the 5th and we have used about half of one of our 3 freezers .These are not these modern tiny internal dimension one where a 1/4 is insulation you can fit an awful lot of stuff in them!

I might get even more anal and start making lists so when we use something its replaced ,now where did i leave my desert bunker?

My sister says all the supermarkets near her have been stripped and i checked all the big ones for delivery slots and its at least a 3 week wait ,i couldnt panic buy if i wanted to my son says a delivery at lidl went before it got off the trolleys .as i said to someone here long ago peoples triggers sit just under the surface ,i was reffering to hate but it seems panic does aswell in some!
