had a walk along the fazeley canal near where i live last week. walked about 2 miles along the tow path and counted 15 anglers on the bank . most of em blokes id say were in there 60's. had a word with one of em and asked if he knew he shouldnt be fishing. was given a right mouthful and told in no uncertain terms to mind my own business!

Give Plod a call. Many forces have a 'wild-life' officer. No harm in giving the EA a call too, better than telling us lot about it.

I cannot see a problem either ,it really annoyed me yesterday seeing on the news a copper 'moving on' a lone person sitting on the beach ,doesnt he realise just him approaching is making isolation pointless ,the person was alone then the copper turned it into a unrelated group of people !

I could walk to the river and not see a person and walk back the same but it seems its against the rules .

I have been metal detecting (with the owners consent) and saw no-one all i was harming was ring pulls and frickin foil! But it seems its against the rules but i call it excercise !

I suggest going but have the consequences of other people interfering in the back of your mind

Has anyone actually read the proposals put to the Government by the Angling Trust?

I've found some of them a bit strange. For example, I never realised that the use of keepnets contributed to the spread of Covi19!

The proposals seem well meaning, but a bit over stated to me. While I'm looking forward to being able to go again, there are much bigger things to occupy both the minds of Government and public.

I also feel the use of angling 'celebrities' is more of an advert for the Angling Trust, than having anything to do with the actual proposals, or the lock down in general.

I've always been a bit wary of anything to do with the Angling Trust. I believed from it's conception, it would gradually go from being promoted as 'anglings representative body', to 'anglings governing body', an acknowledgement I see getting repeated more and more often.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Those that speak for others tend to speak for themselves! Its a shame these bodies have any imput at all unless every angler agrees to their proposals.

They are the same as English Heritage ,a bunch of no-bodies writing the rules on how things should be done and nothing the masses can do to stop it.

Our bridge had a broken support beam for a fence (no reason to have one at all it didnt have one for 800 years)! A normal person would have pulled out the old one (old as in 2005!) And slid in a new one screwed the upright to it and  mornings work job done! Nope the bridge has been closed for nearly a year because bloody English Heritage is involved !

The village is cut in half a diversion 5 miles long is the only way  round and the post office went out of business because passing trade disapeared because a bit of oak a foot square and 4 ft long rotted was not allowed to be put back in because the arses in english heritage had power!

Give arseoles a bit of power and they will use it to get more! Once they get it they use it for their own agendas
