You are a silly sod sometime Paul.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I don’t know why they have made that announcement Cory,  £60,000 because as an employee of the NHS they will get a payment anyway  while being an NHS  Employee , is  the £60,000  announcement a publicly stunt why announce it when they are entitled to it anyway .

So the government announce £60,000 is  that the price of a life ?.

Cold & calculated it may seem, nevertheless, a Number has to be arrived at.

There will be a death in service payment and this on top.

It is what it is. It can't replace a loved one but it's not intended to.

It is instead intended to say to those who are still working on the front line that if something happens to them, then at least their families will have some short term financial security - which is one less thing for them to worry about.

You're absolutely correct Paul, a friend of mine lost his life due to an Asbestos related cancer in his previous workplace. That company's Insurance paid out based on his wife's age, the likelihood of her re marrying & the age of his, then still dependent, teenage twin daughters.

It's a tough world Paul but there is a calculation based on cold, hard, real life - hard as it is!!
