Belated birthday wishes Ant.

You're just a young'un. I remember thinking the same at your age, now I think, 'Bloody hell, it only seems a few years ago that I was 50, where have those last 20 years gone?'

John.

Me too: turned 70 this year.

I'm just hoping for a whole day off some time. Not had one since November 2014 when my wife added Shingles to her MS and lost the ability to weight-bear.

Shingles is not fun going by experience but why does it effect weight bearing?

No experience of MS so i presume its that causing the problem?

Unfortunately as you age more problems occur just when you hope to enjoy your life after a lifetime of work ,we deliberately had kids early looking forward to them leaving the nest earlier then doing all the things we wanted to do ,boy that bit fell apart! My mrs developed epilepsy in 1995 and it was all downhill from there !

MS and Shingles are both nerve based diseases: the MS was already causing her problems and her walking ability was down to about a mile using two sticks and very frequent rests on the return half. Within three days of having Shingles she was unable to get out of a chair unaided and could only stagger about (no way you could call it walking) with a walking frame. She began to walk again eventually and could manage about 300 yards (with a rollator) until a fall at home put a stop to anything involving her legs, they just no longer work at all.

When she was first diagnosed with 2PMS the specialist assured her that she would never need a wheelchair, now she lives in one.

Blimey never thought of it that way ,i had shingles and still got the scars even my stubborness couldnt stop me scratching. As Phone said clothing didnt help but i was lucky my gut overhang held my t shirt off them as they were in a band across my lower stomach.
