Ok John, fair enough, you have a totally different story.

To be honest John I know a number of people who work in these hospitals, and have had some close friends actually being patients on covid ward. My bezzie m8's sister is in charge of the x ray department in another local ozzy.  She and her husband were both infected with covid.  She is a big fatty and had very little symptoms, her husband is also a big fatty and has type one diabetese and he was rough for a week, but they both recoverd ok.

It's a well know fact that the number of operations and other treatments has been reduced massively and some are halted completely, the specialist doctors being left hanging with nothing to do.

Pointless me going on about it as you will dissagree as you have been told a different version of things.

Hi.

I popped in here for two reasons which are:

1) To see if the rumour that the ban on river/canal fishing has been officially lifted.

2) I have just purchased a used Daiwa Harrier 120m closed face reel that once belonged to a well known coarse and sea angler and, after stripping it down, have decided that it needs 2 new strips of chenille on either side of the spool.  Also, I would like to purchase a spare spool so if anyone has got any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Incidentally, I'm aware that 'Jim's Reel Shop' in Swindon sells two strips of chenille, but it costs £4.99 + £4.00 p&p, and the price of his 120m spare spools is £18 (not including p&p), which totals more than £30, just over twice what I paid for the reel.

Try bodging a old fashion pipe cleaner into it ,your lucky you dont own a abu 507 match the reel uses a rubber band with little fingers on ,they were impossible to find two years after they stopped making the reel ,i bodged mine with.......

You can also buy similar stuff for windproofing door frames but it would need trimming ,probably several lifetimes amount from your localk hardware store or try thick knitting 'wool' i am sure you can bodge something

Do they look like this?

If so we can check the dimentions to see if they are the diawa spools

That reminds me i must buy a part for my daiwa big pit reels ,if only i could remember where i put them?

Okay Chesters1, thanks for your response. As for the piccies, yes they look like my spool but wrong colour.  If they are from a 123m or a 125m then they won't fit. I will probably purchase the chenilles from Jim's shop but not the spare spool, not at his price anyway. I had thought about making my own (chenille) but even in B&Q, the provision of suitable material does not justify the outlay in terms of cost. I'm not being tight but I am a pensioner so I have to be fairly prudent. I have cleaned up the reel and touched it up with acrylic where it was scuffed as it belonged to the late Norwegian, Jan Porter, great coarse and sea angler and good friend of Matt Hayes. I purchased it from his widow so out of respect I told her I intend catching many fish with it, hence my attempt at renovating the reel to the best of my ability.

Ok ,if anyone else knows what reel they are from then let me know ,they came in a large box of reels and bits i bought many years ago.

If you are a british pensioner have you checked you are getting everything you should be? The gov wont tell you its up to you to find out !

Chesters1 - thanks for the pensioner advice. Yes, I'm clued up on my entitlement; I've had my £10 Christmas bonus and my £200 Winter Fuel Payment. I wonder if it's worth applying for reimbursement of my fishing license fee as it's not my fault I can't use it.

Seriously though, we shouldn't complain about the cost as the Angling Authorities need the money to keep our lakes, rivers and canals clean and fit for fish to live in. They need all the financial support they can get and I for one think they do a grand job considering the financial restrictions placed on them. The government do not consider their needs a priority as Capitalism rules, and support for big business and its sycophants comes before all else. Their selfish outlook towards the environment is what is causing illnesses and deaths through pollution. Their attitude towards the 'hoi polloi' over the centuries was always going to turn around and bite them but, in the meantime, it's us, the workers, that are suffering.

I have no love for the EA the only time I see their handy work is catching nothing after they have electrofished the river and put the rubbish (trout) back in.

They are idiots run by idiots, a local landowner got a court summons for obstructing the local leat that runs into the river by his house, turns out it was the upper wall used for the wheelof the flock mill that had been there before the domesday book was written and up to post medieval times .

English heritage are no better they were working on one of our bridges and excitely published to all and sunder they had found an unknown arch ,unfortunately for them its in the book bridges of the river wey . trouble is we give power to these idiots!

In case you missed it, fishing IS allowed during lockdown, but you still have to follow a few simple rules.

Well if hes not in your 'bubble' at least , i will leave that term up to your dirty minds

Like the last time the gov contradict themselves

You can excercise with a person outside your household but you cant actually meet them! Because thats contradicts household mixing if one person meets another one its mixing and i presume the other person isnt living in a shed down your garden but they dont say if this bubble is the size of the goodyear blimp

Hmm bubbles can join together to form big ones ,stop i am getting a headach just go fishing you will probably find any bubbles will be tench with coats on
