A quote from William Shakespeare

"Once more into the breach, dear freinds......cry....HARRY, ENGLAND and ST GEORGE"

King Henry V. Act III, Scene 1

From Henry V's speech before the capture of Harfleur - which preceded England's greatest away victory - the Battle of Azincourt.  Perhaps the first time since then that the rallying cry is appropriate.

Dunno about this George fellow,  though.    Any fool or knave with a horse and lance can kill a dragon.    It takes real courage and much skill to tame and ride a dragon. Cf "Game of Thrones"

That's an interesting myth, but the evidence suggests that arrows at battles like Agincourt were fired flat, rather than in a parabolic curve, and would never have "Blackened the sky in battle" - Something that is briefly touched on here:

That guy can sure fire a heavy bow, theres a german fella whos playing with a repeating bow which is entertaining .This guy also  experimented with it .

I think luck had a lot to do with it ,lucky hits on armour openings ,hits on horses sending them into a frenzy and frog mud! I think i read somewhere battles changed for ever as one of the rich knights fired a gun (the first recorded in a battle?)  ,Armour was sadly lacking from then on!

You're thinking of Joerg Sprave. I've watched his stuff for a while.

It's a good story, but like the origins of "Keep it under your hat", the truth may be lost to history.
