Big Cod at Whitby.

BC's a bit busy at the mo, but hes sent me some pics of the fishing over the past week and asked me to post them up. As always I am happy to help.

 

All the fish were caught on shads over the past 3 days and included 2 ling over 20 pound and several double figure cod to 18 pounds.

Now thats proper fishing.............well done lads.

What sort and size shads were you useing?

We were using 4" storm shads the lads are using them more and more but the pirks have also fished quite well,being using the 20-50lb maximus rod great sport shading with that rod very light bends like mad you really know when you get a double figure cod on would recomend them to any body.

Yes chris its solid carbon a cracking peice of kit i paid £50 for it money well spent,but i have even been using it pirking with a slightly lighter pirk the thing is you dont know you have it in your hand.

BC - do you not find the Maximus SC rods a little too short?

Jaybee it seemed a little short at first compaired to my usual pirking rod but now i love it,i did buy it for shading but i now also pirk with it as well it gives you great sport.

I had a bend of one in my local shop at the weekend, they are very bendy for their line class. I prefer a longer rod for pirking, not only to impart more action to the pirk, but to get your pirk up a bit higher when you drop it onto the wrecks accidentally.
