Oh well as promised then here is Sydney Aquarium.Like most of the major attractions it is central to the city and in fact lies on Darling Harbour front.Apart from looking forward to seeing all the fish I was also looking forward to the photographic challenge!!!

First up was this nasty looking moray eel,it really does look evil!!

Tarongo Zoo lies on the north side of Sydney harbour and the best way to get there is to take a ferry from Circular Quay.Circular Quay is the main ferry terminal in Sydney harbour and lies adjacent to the Opera House. You can just make it out in this first photograph.

1-23.jpg

On arrival at the zoo you have the option of taking the bus or cable car to the main entrance,we elected for the cable car.

2-21.jpg

The day had started off very overcast and rain threatened,to make matters worse we had forgotten it was a school holiday and I think every child in Sydney was at the zoo thay day!! As you know with zoo visits it can be really hard to find an animal visible/awake in many of the enclosures but we found this Komodo Dragon proudly strutting his stuff

3-19.jpg

Next up for us was a bird display, not a bad backdrop for it

4-15.jpg

This eagle was most impressive and actually used a stone to break open an ostrich egg to get to the yolk

5-16.jpg

This "bird" certainly caught my eye !!!

6-15.jpg

Last on was a colourful little parrot

8-11.jpg

The sealion had quite a large pool to swim about in and he really was pleasing the crowd

9-10.jpg

We went on to the chimpanzees next but they were all out of sight apart from this mother nursing her baby AHHH did I here you say?

10-6.jpg

I asked these two giraffes to "pose" for the camera and they duly obliged

11-5.jpg

We did find one meerkat wide awake, the rest were dozing

12-5.jpg

At the end of the visit it really did please me to find another NUFC supporter with his top on

13-4.jpg

It had been a most enjoyable trip around the zoo and we finally headed back to the ferry via the cable car again

Bondi and Coogee beaches are a popular weekend escape for Sydneysiders with their nice clean beaches and close proximity to the city. Amanda had said that the walk between the two was really nice and not too strenuous!!!!!! She was waving a carrot at the end of it though. We had been invited to her mates place in Coogee for a barbie.Well I had heard that much about their barbies I just had to go.

We got the train from the city into Bondi Junction and walked down to the beach and very nice it was too

1-24.jpg

There were loads of surfers out as well just waiting for that big one!

2-22.jpg

Just around the first corner we came across the "hermits hut".It seems that this guy has been living here for years and is world famous .Amanda said that the council were going to evict him a while ago but the public backlash was so intense they backed off.He is also a keen fisherman, just wish I had met him.

4-16.jpg

The wife and I did stop and pose for this shot

5-17.jpg

Now the ozzies are really obsessed with fitness and the amount of runners and speed walkers doing the same "walk" as us was amazing!!! Around the next corner we came on this crowd cooling off in the waves

6-16.jpg

Now there are two small beaches between Bondi and Coogee but I cannot recall their names, they were very pretty though.
