The Angling Trust has warmly welcomed on board an elite panel of experts from a variety of angling disciplines as honorary consultants. These consultants will help to promote the work of the Angling Trust and Fish Legal but will also give the Trust advice and support and the benefit of their specialist knowledge and expertise.

Neville FicklingAmong the new consultants are anglers at the very top of their respective disciplines, including: carp angler and TV personality, Rob Hughes; Drennan Cup holder Dai Gribble; pike angling legend Neville Fickling; and specialist sea angler, Steven Neely. Also on board is Angling Times columnist and former Tight Lines presenter, Keith Arthur, who has already contributed to a number of the Trust’s most important campaigns.

In addition to some of the very best anglers, the Angling Trust is privileged to have two of the angling trade’s biggest names on board: Robin Morley, Deputy Managing Director of Daiwa UK, and Paul Devlin, owner of online fishing tackle giant, Fishing Megastore and Glasgow Angling Centre.

Carp angling legend Rob Hughes said: “I look forward to working with the Angling Trust as a consultant to bring more attention and clarity to the issues faced by carp anglers and also to help the Trust promote the good work that they do.”

Sea angling writer and specialist saltwater lure angler, Steve Neely, said: “As a passionate lure angler and keen conservationist, it’s a real pleasure to be on board and working alongside the Angling Trust. I think it is extremely important that we all work together to educate and influence the generations to come and ensure we protect the species around our stunning coasts for the future! It is a real privilege to be an ambassador and consultant and I look forward to getting stuck in with forthcoming campaigns.”

Keith Arthur added: “I’ve been around for a long time and I have an opinion on just about everything involving fish, so that’s why I’m delighted to be offered this honorary role with the Angling Trust. I don’t always agree with them but by offering my opinion I hope it will result in a balanced outcome for the benefit of angling, which is and always has been, my intention.”

Mark Lloyd, Chief Executive of the Angling Trust and Fish Legal, concluded: “With such an incredibly diverse sport we need to be able to draw upon the very best advice and experience that is available in all disciplines, which is why we’re proud to have such a prestigious group of people as our honorary consultants.  We’re very grateful to them all for their support to ensure that we base decisions, policies and initiatives with the benefit of the best expert advice available.”
