Bishops Bowl Lakes, Warwickshire, under new ownership

A group of eight lakes in a picturesque Warwickshire setting has been sold to new owners.

Bishops Bowl Lakes, near Bishops Itchington, seven miles south of Royal Leamington Spa, occupy about a third of the 36 hectare site, which was worked as a limestone quarry until the 1970s. Left to flood naturally, the landscape within the stone-faced bowl has matured into an attractive and peaceful location.

Predominantly used for fishing but with consent for water sports such as diving, water skiing and jet skiing, Bishops Bowl Lakes lie within a Site of Interest for Nature Conservation and part of the cliff face around Greenhill Lake are designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Over the last 30 years, further planning consents have been obtained and renewed to expand the recreational facilities.

Bishops Bowl LakesKay Griffiths of property consultants Savills, who handled the sale of Bishops Bowl Lakes jointly with HLL Humberts Leisure, says: “There was a huge amount of interest in the site, from neighbouring land owners, lodge developers, fishery operators, water sports  operators and even private individuals looking to build a new home. We understand the new owners had been looking for a property of this nature for some time and intend to use existing planning permissions to develop the site in order to widen its appeal.“
