Fishery report by Marlene Mc Laughlin for week ending 31st Jan, 2010

Oh no!  The icy conditions are back to try us out once again.  Cashel Lake was frozen over for most of the weekend.  But those you were lucky enough to get a few hours fishing were content with their catches.  Maghera’s Bernard Mellon released twenty-one trout which fell to black buzzers while Dungiven’s Mark Boyce managed to bank one and loose three which all took buzzers.  Derry’s Henry Kelly released four which took red nymphs similar to bloodworms.  Andrew Logan (Dungiven) released one in a short space of time which fell to the pheasant tail nymph.  Mark Mc Garrigle (Derry) released one which took a red cat’s whiskers while John Hasson (Dungiven) released five which took the white fritz.

River Licences are also on sale here.

Breakfast is now being served at Cashel in the comfort of an open log fire with plenty of craic.

We are now taking group bookings for any angling club or corporate groups interested in a fun day.  Catering facilities are available in the adjacent Cashel Fishing Lodge.  Info and enquiries to Marlene at 17 Birren Road, Dungiven, Co L’Derry, BT47 4SH, Tel: 02877742159, email:casheltrout@hotmail.com
