Sailing Lake
Sailing lake has been of fire this week with both the predators and Bream catches being fantastic.  Les Lerigo of Coventry has had the run of the Zander population with no less than 3 Zander over the magical 11lb barrier. Les used small dead Roach to tempt Zed’s of 12lb, 12lb 3oz and 12lb 8oz and 2 around 3 smaller fish to of 8lb – 9lb. Les fished 3 separate late afternoon sessions and chose to fish into the bays on the islands.

12lb 8oz zander

Carl Wilson of Nottingham also had a couple of big Zeds with fish of 10lb 12oz and a new personal best 12lb 9oz specimen, Carl fished close to a snag on the corner of the green bank bay using kebab rigs and chunks of herring.

Pike anglers have also been fairing very well with multiple catches of pike between 5lb and 19lb. Roy Stanton of Newark fished legered deadbaits from the dam end to take 4 pike of 12lb, 12lb 3oz, 13lb and a week’s best 19lb 2oz.

Lure anglers have been catching up to 10 fish in a session by keeping mobile and hitting the many bays around both the sailing lake and boys pit.

Bream anglers have also been reporting lots of Bream to 6lb in bags averaging 30lb. Fishery boss Chay Jackson was again amongst the Bream taking 11 fish to 5lb using pellet method and 8mm boilies in front of the sailing club.

Nick Green of Norwich managed 14 Bream averaging 4lb, again on the pellet method and boilie approach, Nick fished peg 51.

 

Boys Pit
The boys pit is producing some cracking Roach and Skimmer sport with Lee Charnell of Leicester taking 14lb on the pole using the hemp and tare approach, Lee took Roach to over a 1lb and a bonus personal best Crucian carp of 2lb 8oz.

William Stokes of Syton fished the waggler to take 8 Tench and a bonus 8lb Carp, William used corn over hemp and pellet.


British Pike Angling ChampionshipsBritish Pike Angling Championships – Qualifiers 2011/12
We will be hosting 3 Angling Trust BPAC qualifiers this year on the sailing lake. The championships are the biggest in Europe. Regional qualifier matches are held at fisheries all over the UK during the pike season by volunteer organisers, with those who qualify being eligible to fish the pike final held the following November. The final usually sees over 200 anglers competing for the coveted winner’s trophy and Pike Championship title.  Fox support the British Pike final by donating tackle prizes.
