Dean Macey with his stunning 37lb 8oz Church Pool PB

No sooner had he put the rod back in the rest and positioned his indicator than it ripped off. A hard fight with the fish ensued and a nerve jangling battle as the carp snagged several times in dense weed beds.

The skirmish finally ended for a relieved Dean as he slipped a net under this magnificent mirror which pulled the scales to a new personal best of 37½ pounds.
