1 Tony Marshall (Quorn VDE) 22-4-0 (Peg 56)
2 Steve Ashmore (WB Clarke) 10-14-0 (Peg 58)

5 Pete Jayes (Quorn VDE) 8-9-8 (Peg 63)

Qualifier: Tony Marshall

A falling river with a touch of colour in the water proved perfect conditions for anglers, with the river fishing well right the way through the match length. Top on the day was Quorn rod Tony Marshall. Fishing his trademark long pole approach approach, Tony caught quality roach on hempseed to top the field with a cracking 22-4-0. This bagged him an invite to the prestigious Individual Championship (formerly the Shakespeare Championship) on the August Bank Holiday.

Ray Woods Open (Wychavon Championship Qualifier)

1 Tony Skinner (Shakespeare Superteam) 21-12-0 (Peg 35)
2  Dennis Lipscombe 6-4-0 (Peg 29)
3 Jim Smith (Pershore) 6-0-0 (Peg 6)
4 Brian Pollard (Daiwa Gordon League) 4-8-0 (Peg 27)

Qualifier: Tony Skinner

Quality chub formed the bulk of Tony Skinner’s winning net, which included fish to 4lb. Drawn on the fancied mouth of the River Isbourne, the Shakespeare Superteam ace fished a waggler two thirds of the way across the river, and kept quality fish coming for most of the day. Second placed Dennis Lipscombe also caught several smaller chub on a waggler, but still ended up some 15lb short of grasping the precious qualifying place!

Sherwood Memorial (Individual Championship Qualifier)

1 Don West 5-7-0 (Peg 31)
2 Steve Ashmore (WB Clarke) 5-6-0 (Peg 51)
3 Martyn Heaven 3-11-8 (Peg 69)
4 Adam Baker 2-14-0 (Peg 7)
5 Sean Reidy 2-4-0 (Peg 35)

Qualifier: Don West

On what turned out to be a tough day on the river, just one quality chub was all it took for Don West to grasp a precious qualifying place. Drawn on unfancied peg 31, local man Don fished a waggler two thirds of the way across the river. After a slow start, he latched into a large chub, which tipped the scales at over 5lb on its own! With the addition of a couple of smaller fish, Don put 5-7-0 on the scales to win the match by just one ounce! The unlucky man in second was WB Clarke rod Steve Ashmore, who caught a nice net of roach fishing hempseed on the long pole.

Evesham Rose Bowl (Individual Championship Qualifier)

1 Dave Thornton 16-0-0 (Peg 27)
2 Steve Ashmore (WB Clarke) 9-10-0 (Peg 35)
3 Jim Smith (Pershore) 6-14-0 (Peg 36)
4 Stuart Blunsom 4-10-0 (Peg 52)

Qualifier: Dave Thornton

Having recently being given the all clear from cancer, Dave Thornton celebrated his good news in style by bagging himself an invite to the prestigious Individual Championship. Drawn on peg 27, Dave caught a string of quality chub on waggler and maggot to end the day with an impressive 16-00 net. For the second time in three days, Steve Ashmore ended up finishing in second place, but this time waggler and maggot was his chosen method.
