Fly Fishing enthusiasts have netted over £6,500 for a children’s charity.
The event took place on May 25 at Lakedown Trout Fishery, Wealden Valley, East Sussex which is owned by rock legend Roger Daltrey CBE of The Who.
The charity day, in aid of The Children’s Trust, commenced with a hearty breakfast before the fishing got underway.
Everybody had fishing time at each of the four spring-fed lakes in tag-team events and popular television presenter and meteorologist, Kaddy Lee-Preston, made a splash with an impressive catch.
The sun shone throughout the day and everybody enjoyed lunch and a fundraising auction.
Auction prizes included a signed microphone provided by Roger Daltrey and a cricket bat donated by Phil Tufnell.
Karen Phillips, a community fundraising manager for the Trust, said: “I would like to thank everyone who made the day such a success, especially Lakedown Fishery for their continued support for this annual event. We had very kind prize donations for the auction, and likewise, some generous bids!”
Money raised from the event will help to enhance the lives of children at The Children’s Trust in Tadworth Surrey, which provides care, education and therapy for children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs, and rehabilitation services to children with an acquired brain injury.
