Statement from the Angling Trust

After careful consideration of the relevant facts, the Angling Trust would like to express its support for the stance taken by Ford Sports SAC in connection with the incident which occurred during the club’s charity open shore competition held at Weston Shore near Southampton where one competitor had his entry withdrawn after allegedly being found in possession of fish before the match.

The Trust will also be notifying all its member clubs of the incident during the coming weeks and can also confirm that the angler in question’s international application form has been rejected by the Angling Trust’s Marine National Team and Competition Group.

The Angling Trust, as the National Governing Body for all angling, takes all reports of cheating very seriously as they reflect badly on our sport and any suggestion of unfair play can put people off taking part in competitions.
