Anne Dane from Carlisle set a new family grayling record on the river Eden on Monday,18th October, 2010.
Anne caught a 2lb 1½oz specimen whilst fishing with son Paul on a trip with Cumbrian based angling guide Chris Bowman. The guided trip had been a birthday present for Paul from his sister Lynne and although Mum Anne caught the biggest fish of the day, beating Paul’s previous best of 2lb, Paul wasn’t far behind with a 1lb 14oz ‘Lady of the Stream’.
Professional Anglers Association coach Chris offers guided trips for grayling on the Eden and other Border rivers throughout the winter months. In November Chris is once again running the Kirkwood Grayling School together with AAPGAI’s Glyn Freeman and Anthony Steel owner of the Kirkwood beat of the river Annan. The residential school has now been running for 3 years and has produced grayling to 2lb 9oz for its participants.
