Angling Trust

It pays more than ever to be a member of the Angling Trust following today’s announcement of a new package of benefits for individual members, which includes 10% off day tickets at more than 50 coarse and game fisheries and 15% off all purchases at Cotswold Outdoor.

The “10% Club” fisheries offering Angling Trust members a 10% discount can be found at www.anglingtrust.net via the Find a Fishery postcode search map. 10% Club fisheries are those which have joined the Angling Trust’s “10% Club” and support the work that the Angling Trust and Fish Legal do to protect and improve fish stocks and to defend and promote fishing. This list is growing every week as more and more fisheries join the new unified organisation for all coarse, game and sea anglers.

It includes Angel of The North Fishing Lakes, Newbarn Farm Angling Centre, and Moorlands Farm Coarse Fisheries for coarse anglers and Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery, Llandegla Trout & Coarse Fishery, and Chalk Stream Fishing Ltd for game anglers. A full list of fishery members can be found HERE.

Costwold Outdoor has offered a 15% discount to reach more than 15,000 anglers who have already joined the Angling Trust and to encourage more members to join. Instructions for members about how to claim the discount in Cotswold Outdoor’s network of 65 stores throughout the country as well as on mail order and online purchases can be found in each member’s private “Member Area” on the Trust’s website. As the Angling Trust’s membership continues to increase, more companies are approaching the Trust with discounts and offers which will appeal to the huge angling market.

These two new membership benefits alone could easily save anglers considerably more than the cost of the £25 annual subscription to the Trust and they offer real, direct savings on things that all anglers need: permits to fish and outdoor equipment.

They come as additions to the existing set of benefits which includes a generous 15% discount off Pallatrax bait and products, discounted angling life jackets from top brand Englands, 10% off at Thames Water’s Farmoor and Walthamstow sites (including free use of a 3km private section of the Thames for AT members), £25 of free floats per booking with top angling guide Dave Harrell, 20% off Quiller Publishing’s Fishing and Country books heavily discounted Kayak Fishing Safety Courses and a whopping 75% off the Canal and River Trust Boat Fishing Pack!

As well as these benefits, members of the Angling Trust – the representative body for our sport in England – will continue to receive free £5m public liability insurance, two free magazines each year and e-mail updates with the latest news from the world of angling.

Mark Lloyd, Chief Executive of the Angling Trust said: “Every angler should join the Angling Trust because their subscription supports our campaigns to protect fish stocks from pollution, over-abstraction and predation and Fish Legal’s work to take polluters to court. However, we hope that these extra membership benefits will attract more members so that we can have the funds we need to do even more for the angling community as a whole. We are very grateful to the fisheries involved, and to Cotswold Outdoor, for their support of the future of fish and fishing.”

Neil Grantham at Garbolino Lindholme Lakes, (a 10% Club fishery) said: “I believe that the Angling Trust is doing invaluable work to protect our fishing and Lindholme Lakes is keen to do its bit to encourage more anglers to get behind the Trust by becoming individual members. As a member fishery we will benefit too because tens of thousands of anglers visit the Trust’s web site to find out where they can go fishing and we are listed on their Find a Fishery map.”

Thames Water Angling Development Co-ordinator Will Barnard said: “As an individual member of the Angling Trust it’s great to see that I can easily recoup the cost of my membership through all these new offers and discounts – it makes it even more easy to know that supporting the fantastic campaigning and legal work that the Angling Trust and Fish Legal do for all anglers effectively costs me much less than 50p a week. Thames Water wants to help encourage support for the Angling Trust and we hope that this special offer for their members will do that as well as help even more anglers discover the awesome game and coarse fishing on offer at our venues.”
