The Fishing For Everyone Ladies Fishing Club are celebrating the success of their first show – The Tweed Angling Fair held on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May.

The Club had a stand at the two day long show held at Kelso where, as well as promoting more ladies into angling through membership sign-up, they ran a raffle and sold fishing vouchers to raise funds for the Club.

Founder and Chairman of the Club, Lucy Bowden said;
“The ladies and I were amazed at the fantastic response we had at the show. Being a ladies angling Club and having never attended a show before, we really didn’t know how well we would be received at such a male dominated fishing fair however, we are absolutely thrilled at the amount of fantastic comments we have received both from professional anglers and the general public alike.

“I would personally like to thank each and every one who visited our stand, whether to say hello, sign up as a member, buy a fishing voucher or take part in our raffle – your support is very much appreciated. I’d also like to thank my Committee – their voluntary support is fantastic and we wouldn’t be where we are without them.”

Ladies Fishing ClubClub Vice-Chairman, Rebecca Thorpe said;
“The tongue-in-cheek 1930’s stand we created especially for the show with wood donated by Alnwick Timber included floral wallpaper, a dark wood cabinet, tea and cakes and was something a bit different – it certainly achieved the aim of getting us noticed and talked about!”

The Fishing For Everyone Ladies Fishing Club are based in Northumberland and hold events throughout the UK. Their aim is simple – to encourage and promote more lades into angling in a safe and supportive environment and, most of all to have fun! The Club members admit they are not the best casters, fly tyers or anglers in the world but they enjoy getting out into the fresh air and meeting like-minded ladies who enjoy the sport as much as them.”

The next Club event will be held on Sunday 16th May at Whinney Loch, Berwickshire. The event will run from 10am – 4pm, casting instruction and equipment is available if required and the event is open to females of all ages and abilities.
