Lancashire County Council News Release

A PRESTON complex offering quality fishing facilities has cast off with funding from Rosebud Business solutions.

Langley Lakes Limited consists of two newly constructed lakes containing a variety of fish which will provide day fishing for more competitive individuals and clubs.

Directors Mark and Ann Almond identified a high demand for such a site and an ideal location was found in Broughton, north of Preston, which could be easily reached via the national motorway network.

Funding from Lancashire County Council’s Rosebud scheme helped set up the fishery, which also includes a single storey building housing a reception, office, store, café and toilet facilities. Car parking is available for over 30 cars with disabled spaces. The site has been sensitively landscaped to maintain the integrity of the rural setting.

Langley LakesDirector Ann Almond said: “We have created a natural environment for local and visiting anglers using plants and vegetation to attract a wide variety of wildlife.

“We intend to offer the opportunity to fish at a reasonable cost and make this as accessible as we can to enable as many as possible to use the facilities.

“Rosebud helped us to turn our plans into reality and get this business on the hook for opening on 1st April, and create future local jobs for local people.”

Funding for Rosebud is provided by Lancashire County Developments Ltd (LCDL) – the county council’s economic development company – as part of the council’s broad package of investment and advice.

Steve Dean, Managing Director of LCDL, said: “We are very keen to help people in rural areas to develop successful business ideas, this new development will initially create three jobs, bringing new business to the area.

“Rosebud’s package of finance and support is customised to help individual businesses, whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow your business.

“Langley Lakes will build on our regional image as an angler’s paradise, giving visitors more options for a short sporting break in Lancashire’s stunning countryside.”
