It’s been another week of changeable weather at Brenig with warm sunny spells interrupted by heavy showers and even some hail!

This hasn’t affected the fishing however with some of the seasons best bags so far being brought to the scales.

Fish are being caught on a wide variety of patterns and techniques with lures fished deep taking fish as well as the dry fly. Patterns to go for include, Hawthorn, Bibio, hoppers, bobbies, razzlers, damsels and various nymphs.

Hotspots off the bank have been Nantglyn shoreline and visitor centre bank with boats doing well along Hafod Lom woods and North end island.

Some of the weeks best bags include, John Rogers from Denbigh with six fish for 20lbs, Ken Jones also from Denbigh with six for 19lbs, Den Downey with six for 19.5lbs and Gerallt Hughes from Welshpool with six fish for 19lbs.

The catch returns for the week show an average of four fish per rod and
an average weight of 3lb per fish.
